Are the your courses accredited for tuition reimbursement
programs?
Similar to many classroom training providers throughout the U.S.,
our training partner, is a member of the Microsoft Independent Courseware
Vendor Program (ICV) which means they are permitted to produce courses
to be reviewed for the coveted Microsoft Certified Professional Approved
Study Guide and the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOS) logos.
Some companies recognize this, and some do not.
Strict courseware development guidelines are published by Microsoft
and must be followed by ICV members when producing courses to have
any chance of receiving the logos. Once a course is finished it must
also pass a complete review by Microsoft before any logo is granted.
Courses containing either logo are your assurance that Microsoft has
reviewed and approved the quality of the content in the course.
The Microsoft Certified Professional Approved Study Guide and MOS
programs were developed to offer individuals a quality alternative
to prepare for the various Microsoft certification programs. Everyone
cannot afford the time and cost of attending instructor-led courses
to prepare for the various certifications. By offering an alternative,
Microsoft has given more individuals the opportunity to receive the
many benefits of being certified.
Our training partner currently provides a complete set of courses
to help individuals prepare for many certifications, including the
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Office User
Specialist (MOS) certification, CompTIA's A+ Certificaion, and others.
As the largest provider of these courses in real-time through the
Internet at extremely attractive subscription pricing, Online Ed
sets new standards of excellence in the training world.
With these valuable credentials, employers can be assured that their
employees are receiving a high-quality, instructionally sound online
training product that not only enhances professional and personal
growth, but also stimulates job satisfaction.
TOP
Do I need to download a plug-in?
All courses may be taken without a plug-in; however, for enhanced
interaction within a course, it is recommended to download and install
the Macromedia Shockwave and Authorware plug-ins first.
TOP
Will there be more courses available in the future?
New courses are being added all the time. As these courses are added,
many are added to existing subscriptions and packs automatically,
at no additional cost to the student whatsoever.
TOP
Can your courses run on Web TV?
Online Ed's courses should run normally on any web-TV system that
support JavaScript. However, the simulations within the courses will
not work.
TOP
What is a skill assessment?
Each course includes a 30-question Skill Assessment, which evaluates
your knowledge of the course material. The Skill Assessment can be
used for pre and post-testing. Both your first and best scores are
recorded for your viewing. While you may EXIT the Skill Assessment
at any time, you must complete it at one sitting to receive a score.
TOP
What can I do to improve my scores?
Once you have completed a Unit within a Course, go back and re-answer
every question in that Unit. Your improved score for that Unit will
then be recorded.
TOP
How do I see my scores?
Both Skill Assessment scores and Course scores are available through
the Skill Assessment screen, which you access from the Navigation
Bar.
TOP
How do I take a course?
After your subscription is set up, a link to our login web site will
be e-mailed to you. Click on student login icon, sign-in, and begin
taking courses. Specific instructions will be e-mailed to you after
your payment is processed.
TOP
Can I return directly to my last page completed
the next time I login?
Yes, in two ways:
The courses automatically use a global bookmark to mark the last page
you were working on. This happens automatically when you click the
EXIT button in the toolbar. Then the next time you sign on with your
UserID and Password and select that course, you will be taken to the
marked location where you left off. This global bookmarking feature
works even if your next log in is from another computer.
You can also bookmark the last page worked on by adding it to your
Bookmarks or Favorites on your individual browser. However this type
of bookmark would not take you to where you last left off if your
next log in is on a different computer, hence a different browser.
And you will still need to go to the Training section front page first
to log-in.
TOP
What do I need to do to get full course completion
credit?
To get full credit for completing a course, you must answer every
"Think About It" question. You get credit for completing a Unit when
you answer every question in that Unit. The course is completed when
you have answered every question, in every Unit of that course.
TOP
Where do I get the student guide?
If the courseshas a student guide, go to the Table of Contents to
download. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required, which can also be downloaded
for free from within the course. The student guide is not required
to take the course.
TOP
Can I run the courses on a Mac?
Yes, Absolutely! However, some courses require that a Windows interface
like Virtual PC be used. It is also important to use the proper version
of Authorware with the corresponding Mac operating system. E-Mail
us for additional information.
TOP
Can I access your courses from AOL?
All of the most recent versions of AOL work with no problems whatsoever.
Some older AOL versions can be a problem when taking these courses.
However, this is easily overcome. You will first need to launch AOL,
and minimize it. Then open Netscape or Internet Explorer browswer
and access the Student Log-in through either one of these browsers.

What makes these online courses high quality?
Our e-learning courses are based on sound principles, from extensive
research in instructional design, adult learning and information processing.
All online training courses are designed so that new knowledge and
skills will be remembered and retrieved for future use.
Each subscription is divided into courses. Courses are divided into
units. Each unit consists of:
- A well-defined set of learning objectives.
- A series of interactions that teach the stated objectives.
- A means for evaluating whether the learning objectives have been
met.
